The Vineyard
Our location
Nestled within the heart of Hampshire’s bucolic landscape lies Northbrook Vineyard, a hidden gem. The ancient chalk downland landscape is a unique setting in which nature and rural enterprise work hand in hand.
Lying in the foothills of the South Downs near the historic medieval market town of Bishops Waltham and close to the source of the River Hamble, Northbrook is one of the gateways to the South Downs National Park, represented in our Northbrook logo.
Complimenting the vineyard is a blend of habitats, of grassland, hedgerows, copse, and woodland. Bounded at its southern end by its winterbourne and species rich water meadows.
Our Soil
Our vines are planted on well-draining soil predominantly loam over cretaceous chalk, as found in the French champagne region. We strongly believe that at the heart of our vineyard is the quality and the health of our soil, one which is abundant with an array of life is our ambition.
Our Vines
Northbrook is now home to what is thought to be some of the oldest surviving Bacchus vines in England planted in 1988. It is these original grapes which are still producing our outstanding Bacchus wine today.
These are now supplemented with around 20 acres under vine being the 2017 and 2020 planting of the Champagne varieties, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
